Luck doesn't really have much to do with getting a trip as a choc, just don't be a shitfight and you'll more than likely get a spot. However, with ANODE winding down, there's not going to be much on the cards for anyone in the Reserves, trip wise at least. Unless you posess a language or some other ...

Yeah thanks skull, I was aware it was pretty much zero chance of getting all my courses finished in time to get on the next anode trip even if i was in the right brigade (which I'm not). Just knowing that Timor is coming to an end and the solomons are scaling back made me hope i could ...

... take work off whenever a course is available + you actually get on the panel then you could be fully qualified within 6 months. Wont get you on an anode trip any faster, as stated they are run at Brigade level, if your Brigade doesn't have trip on the horizon then the only chance is if the Brigades ...

... need to get your IIMV drivers course knocked over as well - as that is (mostly) what they take Cav for. Everything has to line up, the trips for ANODE get allocated to a brigade. 9BDE has this current one, and 13BDE has the next. You may be able to get on another brigade's rotation but that's ...

... I've been recommended and completed the blood tests today so hopefully ill here back in the next couple of days. My question was in regards to Op Anode. I was wondering if all the positions for the trip have been filled already and wether i might be able to get on the trip if i had IMT and IET ...

See my post on the OSB thread reference the abysmal state of reserve junior officer retention.

There's a few choc subbies floating around who have been lucky, got themselves on some mega exercises and astute/anode - but for the majority its exactly as described here.

... to those JNCO's who are fully qualified, switched, pumping out 100+ days, attending absolutely everything and have probably knocked over an Anode or Astute trip. Put those guys next to any other TB5 Officer-Cadet and they'd be absolutely fine - all they might need is some stuff to read and ...

... to take 2, 3, 4 week periods off for FAC modules then LOBC / ROBC / C2 driver cse / range quals / etc and annual exercises or Op ASTUTE or ANODE simply doesn't match the attendance and dedication needed for medicine. I'm sure others have succeeded, but I'm not aware of any. All the other ...

AusMilitary.com is Australia's leading military discussion forum. Originally formed back in 2004 as AusSpecialForces.com as a forum for, by, and about the Australian Special Forces, the forum has since widened it's scope to include all members and branches of the ADF as well as our honoured guests and allies from overseas. Despite some sections being open to the public, the forum still enjoys the membership and advice of respected members of the Special Forces and Special Operations Forces both local and international, as well as those from elite specialities in the conventional forces. From recruit training right up to SF selection tips - if it's frank and honest advice you're after, you'll find it here.
